Due to expected deteriorating weather conditions as Hurricane Dorian approaches our area later this week, we have cancelled all activities for Wednesday, 9/4/19. We pray for all of those who have already experienced the fury of this historic storm and we pray for God's hand of protection on our area as we anticipate the potential impact of Hurricane Dorian. Thank you to all the Staff and Members of the First Baptist Church Family, these five years have been a true joy and it has been my honor and privilege to serve the Lord alongside you in this very special place. May the Lord continue to grant us His vision and blessing in the days to come. I love and appreciate you more than you can imagine.

As you seek out exotic animals, you’ll also find snapshots of real-life encounters with Jesus in Scripture. Your kids will go from bewildered to believing as they get In the Wild at this summer’s VBS. The adventure takes place July 7-11 from 6:30-8:30 pm each night and is open to children who have completed Kindergarten - completed 4th grade. We're one week away from Converge: A Multi-Church Worship Event. The worship leaders from Crosswinds, Reach Church, Lifepoint Leland, Coastal Church, and FBC Leland are joining together to lead in a night of worship for the churches of Brunswick County. The message from Matthew's Gospel will be a great reminder that the Resurrection was more than just an amazing event in human history, it was the turning point in our relationship with God Himself. We enjoyed the Horizon reunion concert this weekend along with our own Pursuit Worship Ministry. It is good to sing praises to the Lord!
After church fun with Refuge and Tide students. Mrs. Rachel taught them a new game and after a lengthy learning curve, the boys came through with a win. Ahh, sweet victory.
Last night we received a plaque from Samaritans Purse recognizing our 5 year partnership with Operation Christmas Child. Lindsey Tunnel, Regional Manager from the Charlotte OCC office and Jessi Hunt, the OCC area coordinator from Wilmington, presented our previous OCC Coordinator Heather Whitley and current OCC Coordinator Lisa Edwards with a plaque acknowledging the past 5 years that FBC has served as a Relay Center for our area. We celebrate how God has used FBC in the ministry of OCC and look forward to continuing this partnership to reach children and families around the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
A big thanks to all of the volunteers who served at our Operation Christmas Child Relay Center this year. We had 1221 shoeboxes come through our center! And thanks to everyone who packed a shoebox. Your small gift will help take the greatest Gift not only to individual children, but to entire families and villages around the world. Check out this video showing the next step in the journey of a shoebox. This is the Processing Center in Charlotte where our boxes were processed and sent to their destination. If you've never done it, consider volunteering at the Processing Center in Charlotte or Boone next year. It's awesome to be involved in the next step in the journey.
